Tithing: A Test of Faith with Eternal Blessings Elder Robert D. Hales General Conference October 2002
"Some people say, “I can’t afford to pay tithing.” Those who place their faith in the Lord’s promises say, “I can’t afford not to pay tithing.”
Tithing Elder Dallin H. Oaks General Conference April 1994
"We should pay [tithes and offerings] as a personal expression of love to a generous and merciful Father in Heaven."
"Like a Watered Garden" Elder Jeffrey R. Holland General Conference October 2001
"Always be active in the Church. Some of the missionaries would look a little quizzical before responding, and I would say, “Let me put the matter another way. Three words provide the formula: Pay your tithing.” Each would affirm determination to do so. I truly believe that the payment of an honest tithing will go a long way to ensure continued activity in the Church."
"Be Thou An Example" President Thomas S. Monson General Conference October 1996
Where Much is Given, Much is Required Elder Boyd K. Packer General Conference October 1974
"To develop enduring faith, an enduring commitment to be a full-tithe payer is essential. Initially it takes faith to tithe. Then the tithe payer develops more faith to the point that tithing becomes a precious privilege. Tithing is an ancient law from God.9 He made a promise to His children that He would open “the windows of heaven, and pour … out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”10 Not only that, tithing will keep your name enrolled among the people of God and protect you in “the day of vengeance and burning.”
Face the Future with Faith Elder Russell M. Nelson General Conference April 2011
"If we decide now to be a full-tithe payer and if we are steady in paying it, blessings will flow throughout the year, as well as at the time of tithing settlement. By our decision now to be a full-tithe payer and our steady efforts to obey, we will be strengthened in our faith and, in time, our hearts will be softened. It is that change in our hearts through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, beyond the offering of our money or goods, that makes it possible for the Lord to promise full-tithe payers protection in the last days. 5 We can have confidence that we will qualify for that blessing of protection if we commit now to pay a full tithe and are steady in doing it."Face the Future with Faith Elder Russell M. Nelson General Conference April 2011
Spiritual Preparedness: Start Early and Be Steady President Henry B. Eyring General Conference October 2005
"Every member of the Church can pay a full, honest tithing and can attend tithing settlement. The Lord said, “Verily [now] is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people” (D&C 64:23)."
Sacrifice and Self-Sufficiency Elder M. Russell Ballard General Conference October 1987
"With all these promises of the Lord over the expanse of man’s sojourn on earth, how shocking it is to find that sometimes it is necessary to use tithing funds of the Church to make up for deficits in our fast-offering contributions. Oh, where is our faith? Oh, how we deprive ourselves of the blessings of the Lord by not being generous in our fast-offering contributions."
The Law of the Fast Elder L. Tom Perry General Conference April 1986
"If you trust the Lord and obey Him, … He will help you achieve the great potential He sees in you."
See the End from the Beginning President Dieter F. Uchtdorf General Conference April 2006
Tithing
I love the quote given
by Elder Robert D. Hales that talks about how paying our tithing will unlock
the windows of heaven. It has been so fun as my children get older to teach
them the importance of tithing. It was delightful to watch their little faces
light up when they heard how many different ways their tithing would contribute
to the building up of the kingdom. Tithing has not always been easy for me, and
I am grateful to be reminded of the wonderful blessings that are in store from
me when I am obedient to this commandment.
